The Entombed Terracotta Army of Xián
The Entombed Terra Cotta Warriors of Xi’an are one of many legacies left by Chinese Emperor “Qin Shi Huang”. The figures all hand crafted using the faces of local and migrant labourers gave each piece a character of its own although such a large scale project almost bankrupt the country.
His death in 210 BC, lead to a quick exit for the Qin dynasty and sadly the Terra Cotta army, destroyed during the peasant uprising.
Buried for over 2000 years unearthed terra cotta fragments were recognised as pieces of the great army and the site, one of the greatest archaeological finds of the modern era.
