Hand Held Fans are often associated with China and the range we have on offer, have a distinctly Chinese influence. There are five different styles of fan in our range.• The 'Ladies' Fan - A lighter fan traditional used by women in the imperial court.
• The 'Mens' Fan - Once used as a symbol of power. Imperial promotions would be written on the fan and it would be work down the back of the tunic as a status symbol.
• The Palace Fan - Highly decorative and used to enhance the decor. The fan is constantly open, to display the intricate design.
• The sandalwood fan with traditional imagery, painted, embossed or cut onto the ribs of the fan, is often considered distinctly Asian.
• The 'Spanish Fan' so called because the hand painted pattern on the ribs has a distinctive Mediterranean or Spanish look.
Although fans are functional, the range we have on offer are decorative in nature. To accommodate the decorative nature we offer 2 styles of stand. Two versions of stand are available for opening fans, with a special stand designed to hold the 'Palace' Fans.
