The Entombed Terra Cotta Warriors of Xi’an are one of many legacies left by Chinese Emperor “Qin Shi Huang”. The figures all hand crafted using the faces of local and migrant labourers gave each piece a character of its own although such a large scale project almost bankrupt the country. His death in 210 BC, lead to a quick exit for the Qin dynasty and sadly the Terra Cotta army, destroyed during the peasant uprising. Buried for over 2000 years unearthed terra cotta fragments were recognised as pieces of the great army and the site, one of the greatest archaeological finds of the modern era. All of the pieces in our range were made by artisans from the Xi'an region. Each piece is denoted by a size, 15 cm, 25cm, 60 cm and 1/16th. These sizes are a scale and individual pieces may vary in actual size depending on the type of warrior and manufacturing variation. At present we offer a 3 piece 15 cm set of miniatures, one piece construction with high detail for miniatures. The exact pieces supplied varies but will include 3 pieces of either the Emperor, General, Officer or Warrior. The exact content of the set to be supplied will be unknown. We also have five figures from the 25 cm range, including The General, Warrior, Kneeling Archer, Horse and Cavalry Officer. No two pieces are exactly the same with slight variations and differences in the finish and sizing occur due to the hand molded and finished nature. Like the 15 cm pieces these are also one piece construction. A part of the 60 cm range, The General, a leader on the battlefield stands proud even though as shown in this reproduction is minus his sword, stolen from the original during the peasant uprising or corroded away over time. The exact size is variable, between 58 and 62 cm high and weighing approximately 5kg. This piece also feature a removable head, much in the way the originals were manufactured. The ‘command’ chariot set is a 1/16th scale reproduction of pieces that are known to have existed in the terra cotta army. Sadly most of the originals were stolen or destroyed. This set comes with a clear Perspex cover not represented in the photo. The set is mounted on a timber display, measures 15.5 cm H x 47 cm L x 14.5 cm D and weighs approximately 2 kg. Each item with the exception of the 60 cm General, is supplied in a brocade cloth covered cardboard box. The quality of the box varies and may have shipping or storage damage.
